Thank you for this. I'm homesick for the ocean also -- and for everything that means home to me. I'm in Southern Ontario, floundering in the new life I'm attempting here. What a surprise when your photos loaded on my screen: I grew up in Crescent Beach myself. Boy do I miss it...and I miss Crescent Park, the Sunflower Cafe, 101 steps, the endless mud flats, Blackie Spit, the "grown over" trail between the old oyster cannery pilings (in that one photo you took) and the steps not too far from the new dog off leash area. The hours I've spent on the benches along that trail. I miss the tall, tall trees (which I didn't realize are emblematically "west coast" until I moved away) and the windy days they survive. I miss the gulls, the herons, the eagles. I miss more. Much more. I miss.

I long for the crashing of the waves of the Pacific..or the warmth of the waters off the gulf of Mexico and the surises over the Atlantic..I always wanted a beach home..alas I am a snowbound ocean soul:(

It is only natural to feel this way...whenever I have moed I have been homesick for something I thought I lost until I realized my path was moving me forward to better things and I could go visit my ocean with a new perspective if I wanted...you will find that house soon and the ocean will be a fond memory as you move strongly along your wonderful new path...

Your homesickness for the ocean is the reason why I've given up trying to live in all the other places that call to me. Every time I've tried to live farther up in the mountains or farther toward the center of the American continent, my heart has ached so badly for the ocean that it calls me back. What is it about the sea that does that to some of us?

This post is quite poetic--one reason I enjoy your posts--the writing, which is wonderful narrative and elegant prose. I moved just half a mile and I get homesick for roses that are no more, the birds that visited the feeders, my little water garden. I hope the pine cones help you write a new story--a happy one.
