I can feel your sense of awe about the wide open spaces .. the lack of light pollution at night and really SEEING the stars (any UFO's ? now that would be fun too!)
I smiled over the lament of the deer not doing what you want them to do .. how funny is that ? things are much more wild here .. more stuborn .. not easy to please or convince that doing something for "us" would be a benefit to "them" ? LOL

I feel awkward and clumsy barging in here after such a prolonged absence - I apologize sincerely. I have, however, read your past posts - incredible what all has happened in the past two weeks. First and foremost - CONGRATULATIONS and a big WOO HOO!! I was so happy to read that you've found a home. It sounds charming - and I can't wait to see photos and tag along on this new leg of your journey. And, yes, I can only imagine the changes you are experiencing - but it sounds as though your soul and your heart are embracing all that is wondrous about your new locale. These last photos capture an incredible spirit - those cotton candy skies and the venerability of the pines are a gorgeous combination. We, too, live a small trek from stores of any real size, but don't have the majesty of the space and vastness you have traded for conveniences and luxuries. I too love the wide open spaces...cannot imagine living without it any more. For those 6 months spent on the west side, helping with my Dad...coming home to the AIR, the SKY, the VASTNESS around me was a sure sign I could never live that way again. (growing up on Whidbey Island, I thought it was beautiful....still is, to visit! I DO miss access to water tho, not any shopping tho. Ours is an hour+ away too...hence only occurs once a month, maybe...)

Hi Jen...you live in a beautiful area and there are some wonderful places to explore. This summer you should take a drive to Revelstoke and take the trip to the top of Mt Revelstoke...the scenery is breathtaking or take the gondola up Mount Mackenzie! The road to the old Mica Dam is also beautiful or south towards Nakusp and across the two ferry's where you can make the loop back to 'V' and home. We'll be there this summer so will probably take a drive or two ourselves. My hubby is from Kansas and hasn't seen all the sights up there. Enjoy your life in 'God's Country' ;) !

We've lived up here for almost 9 years, and I never tire of the beauty. Every day is unique. But yes, I do miss my favorite shops in Boulder. Florists, fabric shops, art shops... sigh. I keep a detailed shopping list in my wallet all the time, add to it, and pull it out when we hit the city so I don't forget a thing!
